Are you ready to help your child if they are teething? Teething is a common process that all children will experience when their teeth begin to appear in their mouths. Usually, the process can be painful when the teeth break through the gums and can lead to irritability and discomfort. To help treat your child, there are several methods that can be used.

Never give your child teething tablets or other types of medication for their pain unless directed so by their pediatrician. Better solutions include treatments for your child to chew on, or products designed to help decrease pain, including teething rings, cold objects such as spoons, and even your finger if it is sanitized.

When your child begins to teethe, they will often show symptoms that something is amiss. Beyond just feeling inside their mouth for any teeth that have broken through, look for signs of discomfort in your child by monitoring their emotional state. They may begin to be more fussy than usual and exhibit an overall sense of extreme irritability. They may also drool more than usual and tend to have problems sleeping. If teething symptoms begin to worsen and lead to fevers or rashes, you should consult your child’s pediatrician.
