Fluoride is an essential mineral that your child’s smile needs to survive. With the help of this mineral, the teeth are able to fight off any dental issue that comes their way, like tooth decay and plaque. They can get this mineral from many different natural resources, like many foods and water, but sometimes one doesn’t necessarily get all of the fluoride one needs. So, it’s important that to get the proper amount of fluoride each day. You can help your child do this by doing the following things:

1. Drink more of your community water. Each city adds fluoride to the watering system, which provides an easy and accessible way to get the fluoride a growing body needs.
2. Use fluoride products. Fluoride can be found in many oral hygiene products, like toothpaste and mouthwash, so we encourage your to use some of these products every day and add the mineral back to their little white chompers.
3. Attend dental checkups. When a child comes into our office for a dental cleaning and checkup, their dentist or hygienist will provide a fluoride treatment in the form of a foam, gel, or varnish. This treatment will give their smile the minerals it needs to stay healthy and strong.

WE invite you to call our office if you have any questions regarding fluoride and the health of your child’s teeth. We are happy to help them smile their brightest!
