Improving Your Child’s Oral Health With Better Brushing

Posted .

You can help give your child a healthier smile by helping them to brush their teeth properly. There are simple steps you can take to ensure that their teeth stay healthy in between visits to our office. For more information and helpful tips about brushing for kids, see below:

– When considering how much toothpaste needs to be given to small children, try to aim for a small amount, about the size of a pea. For infants, try using a dab of toothpaste the size of a grain of rice.
– Some foods can help keep a child’s teeth safe and keep their tooth enamel strong and free of cavities, so make sure that your child has a healthy, balanced diet.
– Your child should see the dentist after your child’s first tooth comes in and before her first birthday.
– Don’t share toothbrushes, since that promotes the spread of bacteria. Doing so can spread bacteria which can increase a child’s risk for tooth decay and gum disease.
