The Proper Way to Brush Your Child’s Teeth

Posted .

Since children don’t know how to properly brush their teeth, it’s best that parents provide assistance. However, brushing your child’s smile might be a difficult task. So, to help you properly clean your child’s teeth on a regular basis, Dr. Trace M. Lund and our Price Pediatric Dental team have provided the following brushing instructions for you:

-Step 1: Angle the child-sized, soft-bristled toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gums. Make sure the brush has a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste on it.

-Step 2: Move the toothbrush in a gentle, back-and-forth motion using short strokes. Use this technique for the front and back surfaces of each tooth.

-Step 3: To clean the back surfaces of the front teeth, tilt the brush in an upright position and clean behind the teeth with the tip.

-Step 4: Once you are done brushing, brush the tongue to remove the bacteria and to freshen the breath.

If you use these four steps regularly, your child will have the best chance at having a strong and successful oral health. To learn more about oral hygiene for children in Price, Utah, please call 435-637-9590 today and talk to your dentist or a member of our dental team. We are happy to help you!
